 Yellow
Tulip. Photographed in the tulip gardens at Oglebay Park near Wheeling in
Ohio County, WV. Each year, in addition to local residents, visitors
travel hundreds of miles to enoy the vibrant colors on display in the well-known
tulip gardens at Oglebay Park.

Frost-tinged
Maple Leaf. You must rise before daylight on a cold, clear autumn morning
to record images of leaves tinged with frost. Even on the coldest
mornings, the frost will disappear quickly when the sun hits the leaves.
This is in Blackwater Falls State Park in Tucker County, WV.

Red and Green
Leaves. The unusual colors of these red and green leaves, along with
selective focus, backlighting, and a dark background, combine to make this an
attractive image. Canaan Valley State Park, Tucker County, WV.

Red
Leaves and Ferns. The forest floor contains an endless source of beautiful
photographs in autumn, if one takes the time to look down. This is near
Big Run Bog in Tucker County, WV.

Rhododendron Bloom. This photo of a
Catawba Rhododendron bloom was taken on a rainy day, providing two advantages.
First, nice even lighting. Second, the rain drops on the petals added
interest. Although rhododendron are common in West Virginia, this photo
was taken on Roan Mountain in North Carolina.

Red
and Yellow Lilies. I used a special photo technique to give these flowers
the "glow effect" characteristic of soft focus filters (without using a filter),
yet still retain sharp detail. Taken near Lexington, KY.

Ice
Sculpture. Nature forms a delicate ice sculpture more intricate and
beautiful than anything man-made. Near the Stuart Recreation Area in
Randolph County, WV.
