Sunrise,
Moncove Lake. Moncove Lake State Park, located in Monroe County,
is tucked away in the extreme southeastern corner of West Virginia.
There is a campground and boat dock near where this photo was taken.

along a Ritchie County, WV, road. This is between Pennsboro and
Tracy Lake.
If you can catch the sun just peeking around the edge of a tree and use
a small aperture setting, you will get this "sunstar" effect.

Early
morning along the Highland Scenic Highway. The Highland Scenic
Highway (a.k.a. Rt. 150) is located in Pocahontas County, WV. The
Highland Scenic Highway is 43 miles long, is the highest major roadway
in West Virginia, and offers numerous scenic overlooks. Wildlife
is abundant in this area, and your chances of spotting a black bear are
as good an anywhere in WV.

Sunset
from the Blackbird Knob Trail on Dolly Sods. This trail is
adjacent to the Red Creek Campground (primitive). Dolly Sods, in
mountainous Tucker County, WV, is a true wilderness area. Hikers
and campers should take note. The weather can change very quickly
and be extreme. Trails are difficult and rock-strewn.

The best way to photograph sunrises is to scout out potential
opportunities in advance using a compass (to determine where the sun
will rise), then return before daylight, set up your camera, and wait.

along the Highland Scenic Highway. There are numerous other
attractions in this area (Falls of Hills Creek, Cranberry Mountain
Nature Center, Cranberry Glades Botanical Area, Cranberry Wilderness).

at Grandview State Park near Beckley, WV.
This is from the main overlook in the park. It provides a good
opportunity for sunrises, due to it's easy access. You may have to
share the spot with other photographers, though.

Sunset,
Conaway Run Lake, Tyler County, WV. Part of the 630 acre Conaway
Run Wildlife Management Area, the lake is stalked with Trout, has a
handicapped accessible fishing platform, and offers a primitive
campground.
